How to Delete Your Data

Your privacy and control over your data are our top priorities

Security First Approach

For your security and privacy protection, data deletion can only be performed from within the Techo mobile app. This ensures that only you, the authenticated account owner, can delete your personal health information.

Data Deletion Options

Option 1: Delete Specific Health Records

You can delete individual health records while keeping your account active:

  1. Open the Techo app on your mobile device
  2. Navigate to "My Health Records" from the main menu
  3. Select the record you want to delete
  4. Tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top right corner
  5. Select "Delete Record" from the options
  6. Confirm deletion by entering your password or using biometric authentication

Note: Deleted health records cannot be recovered. Make sure to export any important data before deletion.

Option 2: Delete Your Entire Account

To permanently delete your account and all associated data:

  1. Open the Techo app on your mobile device
  2. Go to Settings by tapping the gear icon
  3. Select "Account & Privacy" from the settings menu
  4. Scroll down to the "Danger Zone" section
  5. Tap "Delete Account"
  6. Read the warning message about permanent data deletion
  7. Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field
  8. Enter your password or use biometric authentication
  9. Tap "Permanently Delete Account" to confirm

⚠️ Important Warning

  • Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
  • All health records, documents, and personal data will be permanently deleted
  • You will lose access to all AI health insights and recommendations
  • Any shared data with healthcare providers will be revoked
  • Your account cannot be recovered after deletion

Option 3: Export Your Data Before Deletion

We recommend exporting your data before any deletion:

  1. Open the Techo app
  2. Go to Settings"Data & Export"
  3. Select "Export All Data"
  4. Choose export format:
    • FHIR JSON (for healthcare provider compatibility)
    • PDF (for personal records)
    • CSV (for spreadsheet applications)
  5. Select delivery method:
    • Download directly to your device
    • Send encrypted link to your email
  6. Confirm export with authentication

What Happens After Deletion?

Immediate Effects

  • Your account is immediately deactivated
  • You are logged out of all devices
  • Access to the app is revoked
  • Shared data access with healthcare providers is terminated

Data Processing Timeline

  • 0-24 hours: Account marked for deletion, access revoked
  • 1-7 days: Personal health records permanently deleted from primary databases
  • 7-30 days: Backup data removed from all systems
  • 30+ days: Complete removal verified through audit process

Exceptions to Deletion

Some data may be retained for legal or regulatory compliance:

  • Transaction logs required for financial auditing (anonymized)
  • Security incident logs if your account was involved in an investigation
  • Aggregated, anonymized data used for population health research
  • Data required to be retained by healthcare regulations

Can't Access the App?

If you cannot access the Techo app to delete your data (e.g., lost device, technical issues), contact our support team:

  • Include your registered email address and reason for the request
  • We will verify your identity before processing the deletion
  • Manual deletion requests are processed within 5 business days

Under applicable privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection Act (Japan) and GDPR (for EU residents), you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain uses of your data
  • Restriction: Request limited processing of your data
  • Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw previously given consent at any time
